Amish Country Finds

April 9, 2013
After trying to plan a trip to Amish country for over a month, my friend Autumn and I finally found a time that we could both meet to go on our little trip.  We visited an Amish farm and bakery, looked at some adorable puppies (that I'm really hoping were NOT puppy mill puppies!), and got some great food--noodles and mashed potatoes.  We stopped in the town of Millersburg, Ohio, parked, and then walked around and did some shopping.  Unfortunately, I was having camera issues and also was feeling a bit sick, so I did not take any pictures of our little escapade.

Onto my purchases...

1) Edna Lucille Handmade Soap- This soap is handmade right in Millersburg, and I saw the soaps in several shops.  I paid $3.49 for a 7 oz bar of Fresh Peach.  There were a lot of other kinds, such as Acai Berry, Pomegranate, Mango Papaya, Oatmeal, and English Rose.  On the back of the soap, there is a 1-800 # if you're interested: 1-800-524-4732.  If you Google search the soaps, several shops sell them online.  Here is one of them: Amish Origins.

2) Kathy's Candles in Cinnamon Bun- I've been digging cinnamon scented items ever since purchasing that Philosophy Cinnamon Bun Shampoo/Body Wash.  I couldn't pass up this 4 oz. candle for $3.65.  Like Edna Lucille's Handmade Soap, this is another locally made item.

3) Hair Tie- I thought this was super cute, and the print on it definitely reminds me of Japan.  I bought it because I don't have anything like this.  All of my hair ties are the plain, cheap ones.  Also, this one can double as a bracelet and still look nice on your wrist.  I bought this for $5.99, which I thought was a bit overpriced, but it was unique so I took the plunge.  The item actually was made in San Francisco by a company (?) called Cookie & the Dude.

4) Star Hollow Candle Company's Lemon Cheesecake Room Spray- This is my favorite item, and I just can't get over the delicious smell. I bought the 4 oz. spray for $8.00, but you can get it for $7.00 off of their website.  They also have a Facebook page and are based in Pennsylvania.  I would re-buy this item for sure.  I seriously keep unscrewing the cap just to smell the spray again!

Overall, I had a nice time in Amish country!  Have you ever been to Amish Country? What are some of the attractions you like to go to near you?

  3. @Athena-I know, I can't wait to try the peach soap! My friend recommended it because she had peach lotion from Amish Country that smelled so good.

@Helena- Yeah, I don't think any of these brands are very famous! They might be hard to find outside of the Midwest. I will for sure check out your blog. :)
