Mini Lush Haul

April 22, 2013
My awesome sister got me some Lush products to try out for my birthday!  Here's what she picked out for me.

From left to right: Godiva Solid Shampoo Hair Stick, Whoosh Shower Jelly, and a Sugar Scrub.

Godiva Solid Shampoo ($11.95)- My sis knows I am a fan of Lush's solid shampoos.  They are very convenient, especially when traveling.  I don't have to worry about shampoo exploding on a flight or about the liquid restrictions.  The solid shampoos are also lightweight compared to bottles of liquid shampoo.  I'm going to save this shampoo for my trip to Africa!  I did try it out yesterday, though.  It left my hair looking shiny and feeling soft.  Also, my hair looked a lot less frizzy than usual, but this may have been due to the weather here.  I'll have to keep trying it to be sure on that one. This solid shampoo smells very strongly of jasmine.  If you don't like that smell, in no way would I recommend this shampoo to you!  Even by the end of the day I could still smell the jasmine in my hair--the scent really lingers, which is of course good if you like that smell.  I usually prefer fruity scents or fruity florals as opposed to straight up floral scents, which this definitely is.  So, next time I'll let my sister know this.  Still, it was fun to try out this product and I really liked the results!
One last thing about this shampoo is that it is supposed to be a conditioner, too.  There are conditioning oils in the shampoo, but never, ever has a 2-in-1/shampoo and conditioner been sufficient for my hair.  I always have to have a separate conditioner for my hair if I expect to get a brush through it.  This product was no exception to the rule, so make sure you have some extra conditioner with you when trying it out for the first time.

A Sugar Scrub- ($6.25)-I was really excited about trying out this sugar scrub, but overall, this product did not meet my expectations.  The product has ginger, lavender, and fennel in it, so it did smell nice, but when I used it on my skin it hurt!  I wasn't even really pressing down on it hard, and it was just too painful to bear on my arms and legs.  I ended up using it on the soles of my feet which didn't cause me any pain, but I expected to use this as a body scrub.  The worst part of it all is that you are not supposed to put this scrub directly under running water or it will "melt."  I adhered to this, but my scrub still dissolved into a mess. See pic below.  I would recommend avoiding this product.  Lush does have tons of great items to choose from, and you wouldn't want to be stuck with this!

I'll try to pick up and use what I can, but overall a lot of this is going to get wasted.

And, because I want to end on a positive note, the last product I'm going to talk about is one that I love.

Whoosh Shower Jelly ($6.95)- When I first got this, I didn't know what it was or what to do with it!  Apparently, it can be used as a body wash, shaving gel, or even as shampoo.  When using it, if you just pull a piece off and try to use it directly on your body, it tends to be very slippery which leads to it dropping and going down the drain.  It's much better to break off a piece and use it with a loofah.  The great news is that you don't even need that much to get a good lather going.  I think this jelly will last me awhile, and I LOVE the citrusy smell of grapefruit, lemons, and lime.  If you read the lid it says that Whoosh is good to use to help wake you up when studying for tests, so I know that is why my sister got it for me, which was pretty thoughtful of her. :)

What are your favorite Lush products?  Have you tried the Sugar Scrub, and was your experience as disastrous as mine?

    1. Nice! I've never tried that one, but have used the Ultimate Shine one before. I might have to check Karma Komba out when my jasmine one is all used up. :)

  6. I'm a HUGE lushie!! Seriously one of my fave stores.

Here's a tip : if you ever try a sugar scrub from Lush again (they have sandy santa for the holidays that is a sugar scrub) crush it up FIRST and then just grab a little so the whole thing doesn't melt.
