May 2013 Glossybox: A Year of Beauty

June 14, 2013
While I was away, my One Year Celebration Glossybox came in the mail.  I think I had some pretty high expectations about what was going to be in this box since it commemorated Glossybox's one year anniversary in the United States.  Overall, this was just an average box for me because none of the products really stood out.  I like everything just fine, but I just wasn't wow-ed, you know?  I guess I thought that the Celebration Box was going to be super amazing, but for me, it just didn't live up to what I thought it was going to be.

Etre Belle Collagen and Aloe Vera Hydro Mask- Besides the snail slime mask that I received in a previous Glossybox, I have never done a full face mask like this before.  When I first applied the mask, parts of it were folded up, which is just how it is packaged.  I had to unfold various areas of the mask until it covered all the right parts of my face.  Initially, I felt a slight burning sensation which I'm not totally sure is normal.  I almost took it off, but since it wasn't too bad, I decided to wait a little bit longer to see if it would subside. The burning did stop and eventually the mask felt quite refreshing.  My skin felt great after the application, too.  I don't know if my skin was just sensitive or if others also felt like their skin was burning a little bit, but I don't think I would repurchase this mask just because of the discomfort I felt right after the application.

Epionce Intense Defense Anti Aging and Repair Serum- I haven't tried this product yet, but I just don't really enjoy anti aging products.  I feel like the best way to look younger is to apply SPF, limit sun exposure, and to eat healthy foods/take care of the body through exercise and I'm not really convinced that this serum can do much to combat early signs of aging.  It's not because of the brand or anything like that--I just feel this way about most anti aging serums, creams, etc.  Maybe I'll end up totally loving this serum, but it doesn't seem like I will based on past experiences with similar products.

European Wax Center Slow It Body Wash and Lotion- I have to say these products struck my interest because I haven't tried anything like them before.  If the body wash really prevents bumps, and if the lotion really decreases hair density, them I'm all for these products!  I guess I just need to test them out to see if they really do all of those things.

Nicka K New York Absolute! Perfume Stick- I'm quite glad to have received a full sized perfume stick rather than another dinky little perfume sample!  Way to go, Glossybox with this item!  The scent I got is "Noblege 5," which I think smells very nice.  There is always a risk when sending out items like this since everyone has different tastes and preferences when it comes to scents, but luckily I enjoy the one I got!

Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray- Hmmm...I do believe this is at least the 3rd Sebastian Product I've received in a Glossybox.  While I'm not opposed to trying out this spray, I would like to try out other brands...like when I got the Alterna Boho Waves spray!  I'm not sure that my hair needs more volume, but this spray also is supposed to make your hair feel softer, and I wouldn't mind that effect!

Xtreme Lashes Glideliner Long Lasting Eye Pencil- I wore this to work yesterday, and it does glide on VERY smoothly.  The color I got was Espresso, and the color is exactly how you would picture it to be--a dark, rich brown.  Thank goodness I did not get another black eyeliner!  I love the sharpener that it came with, too.  I just bought a new sharpener and it seriously hurt my hand and was hard to use, but this one works great!

What do you think of the items that were selected in May's Year of Beauty Box?  Would you have done things differently?

    1. I agree, especially because it is one of the more expensive beauty subs @ $21 USD per month.
