Deal Haul

July 15, 2013
I have terrible problems passing up good deals...like worse than the average person.  I put myself on a spending ban after all of these purchases.  The ban has gone well seeing as how I was pretty busy this week working and finishing up a paper (that's going to be published in a book!!).  Being so busy really helped me to not even be tempted to shop.  I think I'm going to implement the ban for another week to make up for my recent splurges.  Good thing I have an Ipsy Glambag on the way (that I paid for awhile ago) to tide me over. Enough about this boring spending ban and onto the exciting part--the goods!

So, Bath and Body Works was having its semi-annual clearance sale and they had these body creams on sale for only $4.00.  They usually retail for $12.50.  Twilight Woods and Sensual Amber are kinds that I've bought time and time again, especially Twilight Woods, which is probably my favorite BBW scent.  I haven't yet tried the Brown Sugar and Fig, Venice Dolce Berry, and Bali Mango.  I'm not going to lie name dropping the places "Bali" and "Venice" may have persuaded me to buy the product just a little because I have such great memories of visiting those two places.  Plus, I love the design of the Bali Mango tube!  Not the best reasoning, but at just $4.00, I don't need that much justification because the slashed price does most of that for me. :)

I've been considering buying some Sperry's for awhile.  Two girls at my work rave about them and say that they are very comfortable.  I was going to hold off, but...DSW sent me a certificate for $20 towards a purchase.  They originally retailed for $85, and DSW was selling them for $74.95, so if you subtract the $20 from that, they only cost $54.95, which was really too good of a deal to pass up for some shoes that I had been eyeing for months.  On top of the discounts, I then found a free shipping code, and the rest was history!

Okay, my next deal was better than a deal...It was absolutely free!  I had referred a friend to Birchbox, saved my review points, and then Birchbox hadn't applied my referral points, so I got a few bonus points because of the mix up.  With all of the points saved, I was able to get the Yes to Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub and Tocca's Blood Orange hand cream for free.  Those products together would have cost $30.00. By the way, when I took the picture of the Tocca hand cream it was before I ever even used the product.  It came to me looking all crinkled and deformed, but I don't really care since it's not like that affects the cream. The Alterna Boho Waves product in the middle I bought off of Amazon, and I didn't get a huge deal on the product itself, but I included it in this post because I got free shipping on it.  The deal that I really want to talk about is how I got Amazon Prime for Students absolutely free for one year.  It was seriously so nice because I had to buy so many textbooks and the prime two day shipping got my books to me on time, and I just feel that I saved so much $$ from not having to pay all of those shipping costs.  Unfortunately, they do not run this exact promotion anymore, but I believe students can get the Amazon Prime membership for $39/year instead of paying the $79/year, which is the cost of a regular membership.  I ended up signing up again while I still have my student status, and already it has been worth it.  My boyfriend has watched so many shows on Amazon Prime and has also been wanting items off of the site, so it saves on his shipping, too.  I will not be signing up again next year for $79/year, though.  Now that I don't have to buy so many textbooks, I don't shop on Amazon nearly as much, plus $79 seems pretty steep, but it was definitely worth the $39 when I was a student.

The last part of my deal haul includes these two Bondi polishes!  I really wanted to try out the brand since Glossybox subscribers were originally told that they would be in the June Glossybox.  Since that fell through and they were replaced by Spa Ritual polishes, I had been wanting to try out Bondi for myself.  I couldn't resist buying these two lovely polishes when I found a coupon code on Makeuptalk.com for buy one get one free!  The colors I decided on were Top of the Rock (gray) and Botanical Beauty (pink).  I found Bondi to have great customer service and fast shipping, but I would probably not pay full price for their polishes because it is just more than I want to pay.  I will, however, stay on the look out for more coupon codes and will keep it in mind that they are starting a monthly subscription service, which will be cheaper than buying polishes individually.

As you can see, I found some deals, but still spent a lot of money...As Tom Haverford on Parks & Recreations likes to say, sometimes you just have to "treat yo'self."  Watch the You Tube clip here if you want a better idea of what it means to Treat. Yo. Self.  :)

What deals have you found lately?
