Weekly Wishes

August 12, 2013

Today I'm linking up with The Nectar Collective to share my Weekly Wishes.  I think it is important to take time to reflect on what you  hope to accomplish for the week so that you do not lose sight of your goals.  This link up is a little bit different than other link ups, because one of the requirements is that you must leave a motivational comment on the blog of the person who linked up right before you.  I like that this link up seems a bit more interactive than some other ones!

My Goals for the Week

1) I really hope to get my Master's degree by the end of the week.  Last week, I attended the graduation ceremony at The Ohio State University, and opened up my diploma cover to admire my new degree, but instead found a note telling me that there was a hold on my account.  I checked my account balance three weeks ago, and it was at zero, and I hadn't received any notifications from OSU informing me that there was something wrong, so you can imagine what a nasty little surprise that was on my graduation day. When I called in, they told me that I would have to pay back a study abroad grant that I received to help defray the costs of the South Africa trip I took.  This makes zero sense because my friend who was in the same course and got the same grant and who was in the same program (we literally had every class together for the past 2 years because we were a part of a cohort) has his degree and he did not have to repay his grant.  I feel like I have just been calling, sending in forms, and have been getting the run around.  My main, #1 goal of the week is to get this resolved!  After spending thousands upon thousands of dollars and working my tail off for the past three years, I want what I rightfully earned! (Can you tell this is making me anxious?)

2) Last week I started making some small lifestyle changes that will help me live a healthier life.  I have been drinking more water, limiting my junk food intake, and have been exercising on my elliptical.  This week, I would like to keep that up, but also maybe add in some nice walks outside.  I want to take advantage of good weather and spend some time outdoors while I can.

3) My sister has a break from teaching coming up and really wants to me to come visit her in New Bern, North Carolina.  We had also talked about driving to Pennsylvania to visit our grandparents.  I don't think I will be able be able to afford/get the time off work for both trips, so I hope to have a decision made, the dates set, and approval from my boss for the time off before the end of the week.  Spending time with my sister and grandparents is very important to me, so I want to make this happen.

What do you hope to accomplish this week?

  1. First off, I loooooove the name of your blog! As a French major, I appreciate this! :)

Secondly, whoa, that's such a stressful thing! I hope you get it all figured out. And CONGRATULATIONS on getting your master's degree! I am currently in a program and it definitely is not easy, so kudos to you. What did you study?

And way to go with the healthier changes! Here's to keeping them up and also doing well with your other goals this week! :)

    1. I was also a French major! (I double majored in French & International Studies!) Thanks for the congrats, but I'll feel a whole lot better once my degree is in my hands. This time around I studied Early Childhood Education. Are you currently in a program for French?

  5. I know how great it feels when you work hard and finally finish school! I hope you finish :) I would like to start getting back to the gym too, it is so easy to fall off track! I use to go every day and now I barely get there anymore. Right now I am packing for a trip, if everything goes well I will be in Paris by the end of this week but after that I plan to get back on track with the diet and working out as well.

    1. I am actually finished with all of the coursework and have been for awhile...Just waiting for OSU to get everything sorted. Yeah, I would NOT try to go on a diet while in Paris...That would be torture because French food is just delicious!! Have a great trip & I can't wait to see your future travel posts.

    1. Oh, what kind of cereal have you been eating? I like Kashi and Special K, but would like to change it up a bit! I haven't heard anything from the advisor today, but when I logged onto my account, it says I now owe $0.00, so that is promising.

  7. Good luck to you with your degree! You will totally nail it :) I have also been making little lifestyle tweaks--drinking so, so much water, walking more, etc. and I can already feel the difference. I hope we have good news about your Master's in the next installment of Weekly Wishes :)
