Goals From Last Week

1)  Last week I had the mess with my diploma to deal with and wanted to get it sorted out no matter how many e-mails and phone calls I had to make.  I am extremely happy to report that after filling out a bunch of forms, OSU sent me my diploma and I received it on Saturday!  I'm so glad that everything got sorted out with my travel grant and that it all worked out.  The best part is that my undergraduate diploma cover got ruined when it got mailed to Korea (the school I worked for wanted the actual one; not a copy), so now I have an extra cover because I got a cover on the day of my graduation with nothing in it and my new one came with a cover, too.  Now I can replace the beat up looking one containing my Bachelor's.

 2) Another goal of mine was to keep on trying to eat better and to exercise regularly.  I also mentioned wanting to try to go on walks outside since the weather has been pretty nice.  I did manage to get a nice walk in with my mom on the bike trail that runs through her village.  I'd like to walk it again this week, too!

3)  My final weekly wish from last week was to figure out a time to meet up with my sister and to decide on what we were doing.  We both agreed that we should drive out to eastern Pennsylvania to meet up with our grandparents because we haven't seen them a lot lately.  They don't make many trips out to come see us anymore, but it is because of my grandmother's health.  My sister and I picked a date, now I'm just waiting to hear back from my grandparents, so I hope it works out for them.

Now onto this week's Weekly Wishes...

1)  At work, I may soon be transferring to another building.  I'm pretty sure I will be, but I'm just awaiting final confirmation from the region leader, so my wish is to just enjoy my last week or two of work with some of the co-workers I've grown so fond of.  As much as I will miss some of them, the transfer is a better opportunity for me.

2) I started reading the book Wild by Cheryl Strayed three week ago. It is about a woman whose mother died and consequently she ruined her marriage and basically lost herself and did things she normally wouldn't have done, like heroin.  She knew that she couldn't go on like that and decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail alone.  On her journey, she starts to find herself again.  Personally, I have enjoyed the book so far, but I just have had the book for so long and need to get it back to the library.  My goal for this week is to get it finished so that I can find some great, new reading material.

3) My last hope for the week is to get my car into the shop.  I know that this sounds easy enough, but I've just been ignoring the problems hoping that they will go away, but they've just gotten worse!  When I drive on the highway, if I go above 65 mph my car has trouble accelerating and starts to shake very badly.  Around town it drives fine, but I frequently drive to Columbus and it scares me every time, so it must get looked at as soon as possible.  Also, it has been squeaking a lot, which I heard is related to worn brake pads, but I don't really know for sure.  I just haven't taken it in because the dealership always charges me $150 to assess the issue and then they will likely have to keep my car over a span of several days while they work on it.  The reason why I've been ignoring the problem is because I already know it is going to be costly, and I need my car to get to work.  My boyfriend works all day, so he can't take me to work and back and if my car needs all those repairs, I can't really afford a rental.  I think I'm just going to have to beg my parents to borrow one of their cars until mine gets fixed, but I have to get it at least looked at this week because I could be damaging my car more by driving it when it obviously has some issues!

  1. Congratulations on being totally awesome with last week's goals :) And yeay for your diploma! I am excited to dive into a health challenge a friend is doing--walking more, drinking more water, eating better, etc. I needed a little kick in the butt to get started but now it's game on. Good luck this week!

    1. It was scary! I tried to pass this truck on the highway and I couldn't because it started shaking too bad...I had to drive 55 mph the whole time instead of 70!

  3. Walks are the best exercise in good weather! And I have heard so many good things about "Wild." I think I should just read it already!

    1. I do like Wild so far. I thought it would possibly get boring since it is so long and a lot of it is about hiking, but it really has kept my attention.
