Weekly Wishes

September 2, 2013
The Weekly Wishes link up is becoming my favorite one!  Check out The Nectar Collective's site if you want to join in on the fun.

What I hoped to accomplish last week was to:

* Get some new clothes for teaching
* Get my sub license in order
* Cook at least 2 healthy meals

I'd like to report back that I did get three new pairs of pants and two shirts that will look great under blazers.  I'm still on the hunt for a new blazer, but I have several in rotation right now.  I might head out to Burlington Coat Factory today before work to look for another one...believe it or not, my favorite blazer is from there.  I bought it three years ago and I'm still getting compliments on its fun animal print design.

I did get all of my paperwork turned in for subbing and added my name to the list for two different school districts.  I have contacts at both districts, so I'm hoping those teachers will ask for me when they know they're going to be out.  Now I just have to be patient and wait for some calls.

Onto trying to cook at least two healthy meals... Sadly, this is the first weekly wish so far that I have not yet gotten a chance to do.  I'm not a good cook, and I worked some looooong shifts at work this week so I didn't make it out to the grocery store to get the ingredients I needed. Yesterday I was so tired from working 13 hours on Saturday that I didn't really feel like going grocery shopping and just wanted to spend my day relaxing.

My Weekly Wishes for this week are to:

* Complete last week's Weekly Wish of cooking a just a few healthy meals.
* De-clutter my room.  I haven't been getting rid of my old clothes when I get new ones, so while it looks like I have quite the wardrobe, I haven't been wearing half of it for awhile now.  Also, I need to throw out expired beauty products and since I just graduated, I want to toss almost everything from my classes like old textbooks that I don't feel like I will ever reference again, papers, and my notes.  I'm a little hesitant to do this, but I'll keep the stuff I worked really hard on.  Those themed units I created are definitely keepers.
* Get out and watch some movies!  All summer long, I've only seen a couple of films and I do get free movies since I work at a theater.  I need to take better advantage this perk.

  1. De-cluttering is tough, but you'll actually find you have more to wear the less you have! I also plan on cooking some healthy meals - let us know what you come up with! Best of luck with your wishes this week!

    1. You're probably right about it being easier to find more stuff the wear once I donate some items I no longer wear. I think now I'm a bit overwhelmed when I look in my closet.

  2. I really like your Weekly Wishes page. That is such a good idea. I was just telling Brett that it's hard to do the things you want to do with all the things you have to do. I feel like the only times I do the things I want to do are on the weekends or on a big break from work. I might try doing some Weekly Wishes for myself. :)

  3. Are there any good movies even in right now?? That's fantastic you get to watch them for free!! Good luck with your de-cluttering! That's always a fun chore! I hate throwing away clothes the second I do everything suddenly matches that item!!

    1. I don't know if there are any good movies out right now because I haven't seen them, haha. I do want to see We're the Millers, Elysium (because I liked District 9 and I usually hate sci-fi), Kick Ass 2 (liked the first one), and Now You See Me (at the discount theater.) I know what you mean about the clothes...I have stuff I got too fat for and haven't worn in a few years, but I hesitate to get rid of them because I'm always hoping I'll be able to wear them again one day. Once I lost a ton of weight, I had no problem donating my fat clothes to charity, though. Those suckers were gone the second I could zip jeans in a smaller size.

    1. Thank you! Organizing isn't so bad, but I don't really like to clean...I just like the results.
