Weekly Wishes

September 16, 2013
Last week I was unable to participate in The Nectar Collective's Weekly Wishes Link Up because I had too much going on, so here are my Weekly Wishes from two weeks ago.

* Cook a few healthy meals. I did prepare a few healthy meals, and by a few I mean two, haha!  I thought I could do better than that, but I feel like it was a struggle to even cook those.  I don't particularly like cooking, but I realized what deters me from wanting to be in our kitchen is that it's kind of gross because it's all torn up.  My boyfriend was trying to re-do our bathroom and kitchen, and he pulled out large pieces of the kitchen ceiling hoping to re-plaster it.  He was told that before he could work on the kitchen and bathroom, that the level of the house would need to be raised which is a lot of work/$.  I don't think he wants to invest that into this house, so our kitchen has been like that ever since I've lived here.  It's one of those rooms that is all old and dingy so that even when it's clean it still looks kind of dirty, and I just don't like being in there.

* De-clutter my room.  I got rid of some old clothes and expired beauty products.  I also realized that I had a lot of old medicine that had expired.  There is still work to be done in this area, but at least I feel good that I cleared up some space from all of those items that I didn't want, need, or even use!

* Watch some movies at the theater since they're free.  Okay, so I didn't actually get around to watching movies in the theater, but my boyfriend found a code for a free rental at Red Box, and we watched Now You See Me.  I thought it was just okay, but I never really wanted to see it from the previews.  We just got it because it was free and because I heard that it was good from a bunch of people.  I also have plans for later in the week to go see a movie with one of my friends.

Weekly Wishes this week:

* I hope to be able to blog at least four more times before Monday.  Last week I really didn't have time to post much of anything.

* My last day at the theater I'm currently working at will be this Wednesday since I'm transferring theaters to a better (in my opinion) one.  I hope that I am able to be open minded and patient while meeting new employees and training at the new theater.

* Watch my budget carefully.  I had been overspending in July and August and then I had the big expense of paying for my car to get fixed, so I have to really watch it.  So far in September I have been doing a lot better (besides a Sephora splurge that I'll soon post about), but I want to keep it that way because these student loans are not going to pay themselves off!
* Do something fall related!

What are some ways in which you've had to cut back to make your budget work?

    1. I think I know a lot of ways to be cheap, but I just don't want to do them! ;) However, I absolutely have to if I want to get my student loans paid off!! There is always more to learn, though and I'm interested in everyone else's tricks and to know the way that they cut corners.

  3. Still with you on learning how to budget my spending/expenses. I'm graduating school this year and joining the real world really soon so I really need to learn. You can do it, I'm sure there are a few websites online that can teach you. :) Good luck!

    1. Maybe I am a weirdo, but I really thought the ending was predictable! I liked some of the magic tricks, though.

  5. I saw that movie too, I did think the ending was a bit predictable, I knew Morgan's character was somehow involved but I didn't know that the detective was so that threw me a bit. I thought the movie was quite entertaining. I saw World War Z over the weekend (it was my sister's pick) Now that was predictable! I guess when you are Brad Pitt you can get paid millions to do a move that has been done before countless times in almost the exact same way.

  6. We're having to tweak our budget a little bit more. We don't shop all that much (or at all really) but when it comes to groceries, I don't pay much attention to the total. So I'm going back to using a list and a limit. :)

    1. I think I'm just going to start going to Aldi again, at least for the basics! It really does save so much money!
