A Fair, Changes at Work, and Some Shopping

September 26, 2013
I never really get a chance to post about my weekends since I usually work all weekend long, so I thought I'd post about some of the things I've been up to lately.

My boyfriend and I headed to a local fair one day where I enjoyed some tasty fair food such as pumpkin spice flavored popcorn and a crepe.

I also had my last day of work at the movie theater I had worked at for the past three years as an assistant manager so that I could transfer to another theater.  Below are some pictures of my co-workers and I on my last day.

Two days ago, I met up with my friend to go hiking at Mohican State Park.  It's not that far from where I live and it's a nice change from just walking on the bike trail or doing the elliptical.  Since my friend and I talked the whole time, it didn't really feel like exercise because I was distracted and had fun.  (I really wish I could have fun doing all types of exercise, but I just don't!)  My legs are a little sore, so I know I did actually get a bit of a work out.  My friend made me laugh because when we started walking she looked around and said, "Oh, so this is straight nature!"  We decided to go back and hike it again when the leaves start changing colors.

While I'm at it, I'll also go ahead and share one of my recent purchases, which is the Mumbai Treasure bracelet I bought from the site Ten Thousand Villages.  It cost $18.00, but I searched for a coupon code and got a discount.  I still had to pay the shipping, but I am in LOVE with this bracelet.  I found it while searching subscription boxes because this was one of the items included in a Fair Treasure box.  This box looks so cool to me because it supports artisans from around the world and everything included is handmade.  I'm on a budget so I can't afford to spend the $30/month on this subscription, but I'd like to try it out for one or two months.  One month they put in Haitian metal art from Croix-des-Bouquets, and that's where I went for an OSU study abroad trip!  We got to go into the different metal art shops, and I ended up buying some great pieces that went to a good cause (one of the metal art shops gave some of the $$ to a school.)

The Mumbai bracelet is the one to the far left.  I purchased the bangles on a trip to India, and the other bracelet is by Lia Sophia.

How has your week been going?  Have you gone on any fun outings or made any great purchases?

  1. The hiking trail looks really nice. I also love the bangles! I have a lot of Indian bangles and jewelry since my grandmother is from there...we have a lot of different cultures going on in our family my other granny is Irish lol never been to either country. My weekends have been going well, I have been trying to relax since the weekdays are pretty hectic.

    1. My grandmother was from Ireland, too. She went on a trip with my grandpa and they met some of the people that she is related to! As for the bangles, I don't think you can ever have enough of them. :)

The bangles are so neat! I'd like to try that box out, maybe I can afford to splurge a little more now... AND WEAR NAIL POLISH FINALLY :)

    1. Oh my gosh, I forgot about how you'll be free to paint your nails whenever you want! Lucky! :) I bought some Tom's shoes that I think I'm going to return, and with the refund money I might subscribe to the Fair Treasure box.

    1. It is a great hike! What I like about it is that it can be as short as 2 miles, but you can also easily extend it into 7 or 8 miles.

    1. Thanks, Tammy! I never had pumpkin spice popcorn, but it was really good! There aren't many flavors of popcorn that I don't like, though. I guess that's what happened from all those years working in a movie theater. You have a nice weekend, too.

    1. I need to go there more often. It isn't too far from where I live! I feel I am always dreaming about faraway places and sometimes need to be reminded about the great options right in front of me.

    1. Oh wow, never??? I'm kind of embarrassed to think of how many I've eaten in my life, haha. When I lived in France, I used to visit creperies. You're supposed to get one salty crepe and then a sweet one. They even have a special type of cider that you can order with crepes that complements them.
