Circleville Pumpkin Festival

October 24, 2013
With fall being my favorite season, I'm trying to get out as much as possible and soak it all in.  Last Saturday, I requested off work so that I could meet my good friend Janeen.  We headed down to Circleville, Ohio's Annual Pumpkin Festival together.  I have actually been wanting to go for the past three years, but it never worked out for me until this year.  At the festival there are all sorts of pumpkin flavored things to try like: ice cream, brownies, pie, burgers, donuts, etc.  Of course there is also plenty of traditional fair food available for those who might not be into the whole pumpkin craze.  My friend and I were both starving and indulged in cheese fries and I got a pumpkin brownie while she chose a piece of pumpkin pie.  I really wanted to try fried cookie dough (never had it before!), but we decided not to over do it on anything!  We browsed the booths at the festival which had a lot of arts & crafts and home décor items and did a lot of people watching.  It was really cold and rainy, so we decided to take off a little earlier than we expected, but not before waiting in line at Lindsey's bakery for some pumpkin donuts.  They were given to us fresh and were taken right out of the oven and were still warm when we tried them at Janeen's house in Columbus.  Honestly, it was the best donut I have ever eaten in my life--not going to lie.  Inside Lindsey's bakery, there was a giant pumpkin pie that took 6 hours to bake and another 6 to cool.

Below are some pictures from the festival:

Still on my list of things I hope to do in the fall are to go to a pumpkin patch, decorate a pumpkin, and to go on some more fall hikes.  What is something that you would still like to do this fall that you haven't done yet?

  2. Sooooo many pumpkins!! I love the little ones and the white ones.
I want to carve a pumpkin for Halloween but they are super expensive to buy at the moment like $25 a pumpkin! (that's expensive to me) How much are pumpkins over there?
That's one big pumpkin pie, I was going to make one for Halloween using the inside of the carving pumpkin I am yet to buy, that was before my sister said carving pumpkins are the wrong type!
Gahhh I am super duper not festive!!

    1. Goodness, $25 for one pumpkin??? Yes, I think that is incredibly expensive and don't blame you for not shelling out that kind of cash for one. I usually spend about $5 for a decently sized pumpkin...of course the smaller ones are less.
