October 2013 Glossybox USA: Byrdie Collaboration

October 23, 2013
I canceled my Glossybox a few months ago because it just got too expensive, and I had too much makeup...if there is a such thing. When I saw that Glossybox was collaborating with Byrdie, a celebrity style and fashion site, I searched Makeuptalk.com for spoilers.  The first one I saw was a $23 Lights, Camera, Flashes mascara from Tarte.  Since that one item covers the cost of the whole box, I thought about re-subbing again.  What really persuaded me was that my favorite Glossyboxes have always been the ones the collaboration ones and I will also be getting some money back through Ebates.  On top of all of those things, I applied a coupon code for a free Malin + Goetz lip product.  It was all just too much for me to resist.

Items in the box are:

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara
Sesha Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Mask
Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream
Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Vert Eau de Cologne
Balance Me Shine On Tinted Lip Salve

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara- I'm not that big on mascara, but I watched a YouTube video and saw how much the reviewer's lashes were lengthened after she used this mascara,  so I wanted to try it out for myself.  The brush at the end of the wand is dual sided so that lashes can be volumized with one side and separated with the other.

Above is a picture of how my lashes looked after two coats.  My lashes never look that long!  The lashes on the left look like they need to be brushed out a little more, so I'll be sure to do that next time.  I usually give away almost all of my mascara, but this is one I will for sure be keeping!

Sesha Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Mask- This is a sheet mask that is supposed to treat wrinkles.  On the front it says, "For mature skin."  I'm not particularly sure if I have "mature" skin, but I have the start of some fine lines, so I'm going to use it and hope that it smoothes those out a little.

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream- Even though I already have a face cream that I'm pretty loyal to, I do use face cream every single day, so having some extra is always a plus since I tend to go through a lot of it.  Also, I only have good things to say about Fresh's lip treatments, so I'm hoping I'll adore their face cream just as much.

Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Vert Eau de Cologne- Bvlgari must be great to work with or something because this is the third or fourth item I've received in a Glossybox from the brand.  At least they switched it up a bit this time and included a different scent rather than a white tea product.  I am surprised to find that the green tea cologne really appeals to me!  I wasn't expecting that since I usually don't like unisex scents, but I really do enjoy this scent and am going to use it sparingly.  This is an item I'll be adding to my wishlist!  I just wish the full size wasn't $85!

Balance Me Shine On Tinted Lip Salve- I never thought I'd say this, but I'm getting a little bored of lip glosses, salves, treatments, balms, etc.  For it to really wow me these days, it better be a color that really looks good with my complexion or be unique in some way.  I don't think this product does either or those things.  I don't dislike it, but I'm not jumping for joy over this item, either.  I will say that it isn't sticky like some glosses are, so that is a plus.  A negative is that there is no SPF in it.

Overall:  This was a pretty amazing box this month with generous samples/full sized products.  I'm glad they included the brands Tarte and Fresh because their items are usually wins for me.  What I was kind of bummed about is that I applied a promo code for the free Malin + Goetz item and it was not included in the box.  This is the 2nd time Glossybox did this to me.  The first time I didn't e-mail them and say anything, but this time I let them know, and they said they will mail it out to me this week.  We'll see about that.  Regardless, in my opinion, this was a good month to resubscribe!
