October 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag: The Art of Beauty

October 17, 2013
Yesterday after subbing all day with a terrible headache, my boyfriend got the mail and presented me with my October Ipsy Glam Bag.  In the past I have gotten these bags so much later than most others, so I wasn't expecting it yet.  It made my day.

What I received:

Coastal Scents Medium Shadow Brush
Zoya Polish in Neve
Style Sexy Hair's Spray Clay
Bella Terra Mineral Shimmer in Emotion
Nourish Organic Coconut & Argan Body Lotion

Coastal Scents Medium Shadow Brush:  I have actually been wanting a new shadow brush for quite some time.  The one I have is really worn out and old.  I just placed an order for a whole bunch of brushes, but the package hasn't arrived yet.  I'll be using this brush until my other ones come in, and I'm sure I'll continue to use it after the other brushes get here.

On the packaging it says: "Embrace the Make up Artist in you! Coastal Scents provides a full line of cosmetic brushes made from the highest quality of natural hair or synthetic fibers at the lowest price."

I find it a little weird that they don't specify which type this particular brush is made of.  I'd probably like it more if I knew it was made from synthetic fibers.  It isn't clear to me what type of hair this brush consists of, so if you only want to use a makeup brush that is cruelty-free, this one probably isn't your best bet.

Zoya Polish in Neve:  I'm jumping for joy over this full sized Zoya polish that is worth $8, almost as much as the $10 I spent on my Ipsy Glam Bag this month.  I like Zoya polishes in general, and this color is nice for the fall and winter.  The color looks indigo to me and changes from blue to purple depending on the lighting and how I tilt the bottle of polish.  I find it to be a great color!

Style Sexy Hair's Spray Clay:  I didn't really know what Spray Clay was, so I had to read about it on the packaging.  It says, "Spray into hair for pliable hold and texture to finish desired style."  I guess it can just be used as a hairspray alternative.  I don't use hairspray all that much since typically my hair is just pulled back, but I will try this one out when I leave my hair wavy and see if it makes my waves last longer.

Bella Terra Mineral Shimmer in Emotion:  I have a Chanel palette full of four beautiful purple eye shadows, but it is getting low, so this will be a nice addition to my collection.  Purple is one of my favorite colors, so I'm sure I'll be wearing this color a lot.

I just looked up this shimmer on the Bella Terra website.  While I initially planned on just using it as an eye shadow, there are plenty of other ways to use the shimmer!  These are listed out on the site, but one way in which I might use it is to mix it with clear polish and paint my nails with it.  You can also apply it to your hair to add some fun, non-permanent streaks.

Nourish Organic Coconut & Argan Body Lotion: This tube will fit nicely in my purse and I'm thinking the Argan Oil will really help my dry hands, especially at work when I am constantly washing them.  It's nice that this lotion is available at Target, since that is one of my favorite places to go shopping.

On the back of the tube the product is described a bit more:  "*Moroccan Argan Oil, packed with restorative omega fatty acids, intensely hydrates and replenishes skin.  *Antioxidant-rich coconut oil smoothes and softens skin.  *Advanced formula clinically proven to deeply nourish.  * Non-greasy, absorbs quickly."

I'm loving everything I received this month!  :)

  2. I got similar stuff to you but in different colors! Just FYI about the brush - I'm pretty sure that's natural hair, not synthetic. If you look at the Coastal Scents website they have natural AND synthetic, and most of the synthetic ones have black bristles and the hair ones have brown bristles. I also prefer synthetic brushes, but I guess since I already have it I might as well use it because otherwise it would become garbage. :/

    1. Thanks for informing me about the brush. Yeah, I'm still going to use it, but would have preferred a synthetic one.
