Sephora Haul

October 9, 2013
I've been meaning to post this haul for ages, but better late that never?  This was actually what I spent my birthday money on!

This year, when redeeming my Sephora birthday gift for signing up to be a Beauty Insider, I had the option to choose between Fresh's Mini Lip Duo and some mascara from Benefit.  Since I love lip products more than mascara, this was a no brainer for me.  Also, last year I had the change to get this Fresh duo and never redeemed my birthday coupon in time!  I was kicking myself for that, so I'm glad I got another chance to get it this time around.  I have a full size Fresh lip treatment and absolutely love it--the packaging is cute and durable, and having to unscrew it to get it open is ingenious.  I'm sick of my lipstick caps falling off in my purse all the time...I seem to have that problem with some of my Flower brand lipsticks.  Both lip treatments smell great and have an SPF of 15.

Here are the samples I chose to go along with my order.  I can't wait to try out the Tarte Amazonian Clay Mask.  Sadly, there is only enough in there for one full use, but it's a detox mask that has clay in it from the Amazon River.  Plus, I have yet to try a skin care product from Tarte.  I love these little bonus products that Sephora includes with your order!  :)

On to my purchases (from left to right):

Sephora Brand Smoothing and Brightening Concealer:  I needed a new concealer, and this one seemed as good as any.  I also liked that you can apply it directly under the eye area with the brush at the end.  The concealer is dispensed a little bit at a time with each click.  It didn't completely eliminate my under eye circles, but it did disguise them.

Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly: I guess I probably shouldn't have included this under "purchases" since I used a coupon code to get this--another great deal in this order. :)  This doesn't go on too dark, and just gives my lips a shimmery hint of color.

Here are the swatches of (from left to right) the Sephora Brand Smoothing and Brightening Concealer, the Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly, and of the Sugar Lip treatment in Rose.

Soap & Glory Creamy Moisture Shower Gel:  This is special for me because it's my first ever time trying out something this popular British brand.  It smells nice, although it was more perfumey than I expected.  I just hope it lathers up nicely because that can make or break a shower gel purchase for me.

Last but not least, here is the big purchase that I made in this haul...the Aqualillies for Tarte Amazonian Clay Palette!  The colors and names of the shadows were inspired by the Aqualillies synchronized swimmers.  This product came out in the spring and was a limited edition palette which is sold out now, BUT there is another limited edition palette out by Tarte called the Coral Crush Amazonian Clay Eye and Cheek Palette that would work perfectly for fall.

The Aqualillies palette was a great buy for the summer because the makeup is all waterproof in case you happened to go swimming or to the beach or even got caught in a storm.  Even though it's a new season, I don't think the neutral colors in this palette would look out of place in any season, so I plan on using it this fall, too.

Look at how beautiful the packaging is!  This is by far the prettiest packaging out of any makeup that I own.

On the top left, there is a highlighter and in the top right corner there's some bronzer.  The middle is full of blush and there are six nice shadows, too.  Not too shabby for the $38 price tag!  Here it is again with the colors all labeled:

  1. I have those sugar balms as well, I like them when I don't feel like wearing heavy color on my lips which isn't that often these days. I like that palette, I think those colors and that blush will compliment your skin tone beautifully.

    2. I've never actually worn makeup before so the thought of going into a sephora without a pro makes me have a panic attack.
