Black Friday: ASOS Haul

November 29, 2013
I'm a sucker for Black Friday deals and this year was no exception!  I got some gifts for my family, but don't really want to write about those since they check my blog every so often, so instead I'll tell you about what I splurged on for myself.  I know I mentioned on here before that I gained some weight in the past few years, and I haven't been doing a lot shopping for clothes because I was in denial thinking,"Oh, I don't need to buy a bigger size.  I'll lose the weight and just wear what I already have."  Well, I have lost about ten pounds, and hope to continue this weight loss trend, but in the meantime I'm just tired of not feeling as stylish as I used to feel.  This is why I went ahead and just bought a couple of trendy pieces that I can wear right away.  I have plenty of non-plus sized clothes in my wardrobe that don't fit like they used to, and wanted to get some items that fit me well, so I browsed ASOS's Curve section and liked what I saw!  It was hard to choose, but in the end, I purchased the following:

1) ASOS Curve Pencil Skirt in Velvet Floral

I am definitely a curvy girl no matter how much I weigh and so I think pencil skirts are pretty flattering on my figure.  Plus, the skirt is long enough to wear to work and is also appropriate to wear when I teach.  I have plenty of plain shirts to pair with it, and fell for the floral print and for the fact that it is already marked down from the original price of $58.08.  One thing I like about the ASOS site is that often information about the model is provided, such as her height and what size she is wearing.  Most of the models are 5'10" or 5'11" and since I am almost 6'0", it gave me a good idea of what the clothes might look like on me.

 2) ASOS Curve Exclusive Sweat with Cross Print

I've already established on here how much I love black, so this piece was calling my name.  I picked a sweatshirt because I live in a place that has cold, snowy, and LONG winters.  Additionally, I'm always feeling cold when everyone else says they are feeling comfortable, so this would be a shirt I could layer on top of a thermal.  I couldn't wear it in a professional setting, but it just was too comfy looking to pass up.

3. ASOS Curve Pencil Skirt in Floral Print

I went ahead and bought another pencil skirt because I figured I could wear it in the winter with leggings or tights or in the summer with bare legs.  Mostly, I just bought this skirt because I loved the print and design!

I'm glad I went ahead and got these items...No matter what size you are, everyone deserves to own clothes that they like and fit them properly!

If you're looking for some new clothes, check out ASOS, as I got an additional 20% off today with the promo code: GIMME20.  Also, students always get an extra 10% off!  I wish I would have known about that before I graduated, but I thought I'd pass the info. along.  Standard shipping is free, too!

This was my first time buying anything off of ASOS, and can't wait for my package to arrive.  Have you ever bought anything off of ASOS?  What Black Friday deals did you find today?

That first skirt is so cute! They tried to have some sales here for Black Friday even though we had thanksgiving at the beginning of Oct, they did it so all the Canadians wouldn't cross the border and spend all their money in the U.S. instead of here in Canada...but they always fail. I went to Maryland once for Black Friday and stood in line in the freezing cold for hours to get a purse on sale lol my hubby wasn't thrilled but it was originally $700 and I got it for about $250

People can look good at any size if they have clothes that fit them well. Of course I'm also guilty of squeezing into clothes that don't really fit me that well anymore... don't tell the fashion police. Both of those skirts are awesome! I've bought off ASOS before... besides clothing, they actually have some beauty brands that are hard to find in the US.

Haha, yes, all of my Canadian friends love crossing the border to shop in the States! You can get some awesome deals if you wait long hours/if you're lucky.

Oh no, now I want to go and check out their beauty section!
I saved all my old clothes because I hope that they will fit me again someday...I think I can do it. I'm pretty sure what made me fat in the first place was GRAD SCHOOL because I had to sit for hours writing paper after paper! Now that I'm done, I've lost about 10 pounds so far...which I hope I don't gain back around the holidays!
