The Hunger Games: Style Inspiration

November 22, 2013
Working at a movie theater means that the movie Catching Fire is pretty much taking over my life since it's so popular.  Last night I worked the opening of the movie in my town, including the midnight shows.  It was cool to see how the movie inspired so many people to dress and/or accessorize.  Wearing arrow earrings was pretty popular, but I opted for the Katniss Everdeen braid.  I knew that I would never be able to do this braid myself, so I headed down to Grandview's new Blowout Bar to get my hair done.  I had read about Blowout and Braid bars opening up in larger cities and was hoping that Columbus would get one, so I was pretty happy when I found that they finally did.  I just got a braid done there for $10 plus tip.  I called ahead of time asking for the style and they were very willing to work with me.  Here are the results:

I used to live right in Grandview, and if that was still the case, I would be heading on over to get my hair braided pretty frequently since the style can last for at least a couple of days.  I'd like to go back down to The Blowout Bar and actually get my hair washed and styled next time.  It would be a fun and relaxing thing to do with a friend.  I'm also hoping to find the time to see Catching Fire sooner rather than later!  Catching Fire was my favorite book in The Hunger Games series, and hopefully the movie does it justice.

Anyway, I'm curious to know, has a movie ever inspired your fashion choices?  How so?

Would you ever go to a blowout or braid bar?

Hope that you enjoy my Polyvore collage!

  1. That braid is beautiful! I would be getting my hair done once a week for sure if I lived near. I also like the pillow and the arrow earrings a lot! Catching Fire was my favorite of the 3 as well :)

    1. The earrings are by Nicole Richie's line, House of Harlow. I love most of the jewelry in her collection!

    1. I wish there was one in my town, too! The place I went to is about an hour away from me, but I already was going to be in the area so it worked out for me.
