Weekly Wishes

November 11, 2013
The theme for Melyssa's Weekly Wishes this week is hobby.  I had some trouble figuring out what type of picture I would post, but then came across this picture my friend snapped of me while we were in Haiti together.  In it, I'm doing one of my favorite hobbies...I love reading!

The last time I posted for Weekly Wishes (which was a few weeks ago--eek!), I wrote that I wanted to:

*Hit the bike trail.
*Make solid plans to meet up with friends.
*Wear some jewelry that I haven't worn in awhile.
*Look into physical therapy for my lower back.

I must confess that I have not had a chance to walk the bike trail.  In my defense, every time I had some time to go the weather was pretty crappy and it was pouring rain.  Good thing I have my elliptical to use instead!

As far as making plans to meet up with friends is concerned, I was able to do that.  I met up with my friend Janeen and we went to The Circleville Pumpkin Festival.  I also got to meet up with Courtney from Permeating Purpose to go to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens.  Today I'll be driving to Akron to meet up with two more of my friends at a winery.

I was doing well with wearing some pieces of jewelry that haven't seen the light of day in awhile, but I need to keep that up!

For the Weekly Wish about looking into physical therapy, I did make some phone calls and found a place that offers it.  In order to be able to go, I have to have a referral from a doctor.  I made an appointment last week with my family doctor who checked out my back.  He told me that he does feel a problem with my back, but that I likely will not need surgery.  He wants me to get x-rays done and to schedule another appointment with him before he refers me.  I understand why he wants me to do this, but it's just so annoying that I have to jump through so many hoops and spend so much money just for a referral!

This week's wishes:

* Schedule appointments.   This includes scheduling one with my dentist, hair dresser, and making an appointment to get x-rays done of my back. It's kind of hard to fit these appointments in since I work two jobs, but I must get my hair cut!  It has probably been over a year since I've had a trim.

* Finish sending out my Pay-It-Forward gifts.  I signed up to send out five gifts in the year 2013, and have sent out three so far.  I still have two more to send out...I've already bought them, but just haven't packed them up and mailed them out.

*Do yoga three times this week.  Because of my back problems, I went ahead and purchased a yoga mat so that I could start doing stretches to alleviate some of the pain in my lower back.  I hope that practicing these stretches multiple times a week with help make my back stronger.

*Finish Allegiant.    This is one my Weekly Wishes list because I know that if I don't finish the book soon someone will spoil it for me!  A lot of people at my work are reading it now and talking about it, and I just don't want to hear anything else about it until I've read it for myself.

    1. Thanks! I think I liked the first two books better so far, but I can't officially come to a verdict since I'm still on the last one.

    1. I hope I can, too. It's been feeling a little better...I think stretching and yoga has helped a bit. Good luck getting all of your appointments in, too.

    1. I hope that I can keep up with this...I'm about to get slammed at work. The more I work, the more my back will hurt, so I've got to try to find the time for yoga!

  5. I have two books I need to finish, one is like 675 pages, the other is shorter at 350. I hate when I do not have the time read. I normally do so before bed for a few hours, but have been exhausted. Need to get on it though!

    1. I don't think I'm going to be able to finish Allegiant by the end of the week. People at work today were talking about it, as predicted...maybe I should have made it a biweekly wish! I hope you can find some time to read your two books this week.
