Ulta Baked Eyeshadow

December 4, 2013
My sister sent me my Christmas gift in the mail, and instead of being a good little girl and putting the present under the tree, I tore open the package.  I don't think my sis will mind.  :)  In it, she gave me two baked eyeshadows from Ulta in the shades Plum Gorgeous and Sweet Dreams.  My sis knows my tastes in colors and these are probably the two from the line that I would have most likely picked for myself.

I tested the shadows out, and they go on nice and smooth, so I'm happy with the overall application.  However, I must mention that when applied dry, the colors weren't as dark as they appear in the containers, but using primer or adding water is always an option.  For day wear, I think the colors look fine without anything extra.

I love that each shadow comes with two colors inside so that I can blend them together right then and there.  All of the colors have a beautiful shimmery quality to them and the size is pretty generous at 2.55 grams.  They are a good addition to my makeup collection, and I can see myself wearing these colors often to create a more casual look for work.

The only thing I wish is that there was a brush included, but I always wish that because I wear eye makeup every day and can be a bit lazy when it comes to washing my brushes.

One baked eyeshadow from Ulta costs $8.00, which I think is pretty affordable.  There is also a special going on right now, where if you buy two, you get two free.  These would make a great stocking stuffer or would be an extra bonus for yourself when buying a gift.  Besides Plum Gorgeous and Spellbound, there are eight other colors to choose from.  Check them out here, at Ulta's site.

What types of eyeshadows have you been using?  Have you opened any (very) early Christmas gifts yet?

I have a kit of 6 lovely eyeshadows from Laura Mercier that I adore. It was a splurge last Christmas since they were on sale and I was DIYing my wedding makeup. I love the color combos it contains. Do you find that the glittery specks in the Ulta eyeshadow end up on other parts of your face as they day progresses? I have this problem with some other eyeshadows and it makes me not want to use the ones with shimmer.

These are super pretty! I haven't tried baked shadows, but I have a baked blush that I LOVE.

Oh I love these colors. I need to make a quick stop to Ulta soon.

I do not like the ones that get glitter chunks in your eyes AT ALL...I have really sensitive eyes as it is and that just makes the problem worse. I have been wearing Plum Gorgeous all day and haven't had a problem! :)

I really like them! My sis did good!

They really are! I would probably use primer for a nighttime look, but I don't go out nearly as much as I used to when I was younger.

I actually don't have an Ulta in my town, so this was an extra special treat.

I know I will get a lot of use out of these.

I'm so glad the eyeshadows worked out so well for you! I was really hoping you'd like them! I have been wanting to go to Ulta for you for a while, so Christmas was the perfect excuse! Everytime I go in there, I think of you because it has your name written all over it! In fact, I was just there yesterday. I bought a "wand" for my hair-it's the new preferred option over a curling iron. I bought one that comes with a heat-protecting glove so I won't burn myself. I'm excited to try it out! :)
