5 Product Makeup Challenge

February 4, 2014
I've been seeing the 5 Product Makeup Challenge Tag around on a few beauty blogs that I read and even though I wasn't specifically tagged, I thought I'd go ahead and take the challenge since bloggers invited anyone who was interested in doing their own post to participate.

Here is my overall look, but please (try to) ignore my messy hair in which I used zero products, hahaha.

The products I used to create this look were:

I started out by using some Day Creme from Estee Lauder because I love how this cream makes my face feel--it effectively moisturizes my skin without the greasy feeling and it contains SPF.  This product is one of my ultimate go-to moisturizers, and I use it as a part of my daily beauty regimen.  I might be able to go without it in the summer, but not in the winter, so I knew that this would be my first pick which left me down to just four products.

The second product I chose was L'Oreal's Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream in Fair.  I knew that I needed to use something to give me some coverage, and this product did the trick with that.  I really love the shade of it...it matches my skin tone very well and doesn't wash me out like some of the other fair BB creams do.

My next pick was TIGI Brilliance Glow Blush, mainly because this doubled as a blush and eye shadow for me.  I actually tend to use it on my lids quite frequently...gotta love those 2-in-1 products.

I lined the top of my eyelids with Sebastian Professional Aqua Eyes liner.  I received this in a Glossybox awhile back and remember not being too excited about getting another black eyeliner, but this one is amazing and I can see why it is award-winning!  It stays put ALL day and doesn't budge.  It's waterproof, and while I'm not a big crier, I did shed some tears last week which usually results in a black smudgy mess around my eyes, but this held up really well.  This product has become one I don't want to be without, so it was a natural pick for this 5 Product Challenge.

Finally, I went with an Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick in Rich Currant for my lips.  I picked this lipstick up awhile back...I think it may have been a part of a free gift with purchase that I got.  Regardless, I love the color and find that Estee Lauder lipsticks are long lasting and can sometimes last me practically the whole day, even after meals.

I think I would recreate this look again because it didn't take very long since it is so simple.  Sometimes less is more!  Also, this would be ideal for when I wake up late or am in a rush and don't have much time to spend on applying my makeup.

What 5 beauty products would you pick if you had to limit yourself?

    1. I don't have one! That's a good idea for a future post. What did you get from Sephora?!?! I think that is my favorite store ever.

    1. Yes, I got my nose pierced back in 2003 and I did not know one other person that had it. When I got it, it was a "weird" one to get, but nowadays it seems pretty popular and way more common. The bad thing is that I can hardly ever wear my piercing because of work and teaching. Can you wear yours for your job?

  4. Wow, five products seems like so few! Tinted moisturizer, blush, eyeliner, mascara, and then it's a toss-up between eyebrow pencil and lip stain... - actually, a list remarkably similar to yours!

    1. I usually also wear under eye concealer, pore primer, bronzer, and more shadows than just one color. Sometimes I'll throw in powder and mascara.

  6. I like this tag! Maybe I'll try it too. I have to think about what I'd use but black liquid liner would definitely be on the list. :) Anyway, you look good... I wouldn't have guessed that it was a simplified routine.

    1. It is my favorite one, but kinda pricey. I always wait until Estee Lauder gives away a gift bag with a purchase of x amount of $$ because then I can justify spending that much on moisturizer.

    1. I want to try out Garnier BB cream. I bet I would like it, but I just always find myself buying the L'Oreal one over and over again.
