My Weekly Wrap Up
Favorite Recipe of the Week: Valentine's Day Chex Mix! This week I was looking for a simple and festive recipe for V-Day and came across this one on the Betty Crocker website. I'm putting it in little baggies and packing it in my lunch for a little treat when I substitute.
Current Drink Obsession: Sparkling Flavored Water in Black Cherry I first started drinking sparkling flavored water last spring when my professor gave us some at her house when she had us over for South African food. She said that it was very common to drink flavored water in South Africa, and when I went there last May, I did find that to be true. While I had a lot of it when I was over in Cape Town, I never really picked up any for myself here in the U.S. At the grocery store this week, I happened to see some and picked up a few bottles and have become obsessed with it all over again! I know that regular water is way better for you, but I drink the flavored sparkling water instead of drinking a soda. It just tastes so good and there are lots of flavors to choose from if Black Cherry isn't your thing.
Other Tidbits From This Week: I also met up with my pal Amanda and her husband so that we could go out to eat at Rooster's. Rooster's opened up in my town not too long ago, and it can be compared to a Buffalo Wild Wing's. It was nice to just be able to relax and chat with them in a casual setting and of course to try out the wings. Afterwards, Amanda and I went to Bingo, hahaha...I swear it's fun, even though some of the people there are pretty scary/hardcore into Bingo. I really wanted to take a picture of some of the bingo tote bags that people carry around with them--it's crazy!! There will be like 40 different colored dabbers in a bag along with all of these good luck charms. A woman had all of these trolls lined up at her table, and Amanda made fun of her and told me to take a picture to put on here, but I was way too chicken. Sadly, I didn't win...Amanda won, but had to split it 8 ways so she only got $16, but her aunt won $900!! On the month of your birthday you get in for free, so we will be going back next month for Amanda's birthday and then again in April for mine.
Speaking of winning things, although I did not win at Bingo, I did win a copy of The Forever Girl by Alexander McCall Smith from Goodreads.com (thanks, Kate!!) and won The Royal Giveaway @ Keep Calm and Blog On. Wahoo!!
Finally, I did do a tiny bit of shopping in celebration of my spending ban being over! I bought my V-Day swap buddy Lola her gifts and picked up a few mini candles at BBW for myself, even though did NOT need them. I shouldn't have even sniffed the Raspberry Peach Macaron candle OR the Watermelon Lemonade candle, because I got hooked on both. #addiction

The Forever Girl was one of the ones I had my fingers crossed for too! Yay for winning! I think it's totally okay you are reading her book- I kind of wish she hadn't cancelled the book club ever and you had a whole stack of them!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I kind of wish that, too! I still have one more to read courtesy of the ex.
DeleteBeen looking for Maybelline's Baby Skin! Where were you able to find it? :)
ReplyDelete--Jan
I got it at the grocery store (Kroger.) I hope that you are able to find it.
DeleteWhoop! Looks like you've had a lucky week haha! Linked up with ya girl!
ReplyDeleteI did! I can't wait for the book to arrive. I just got my giveaway items in the mail today, yay!! Thanks for linking up with us. :)
DeleteIf you're looking for a great brand of sparkling water, seriously try LaCroix... it's my addiction. There's literally nothing in it - no calories, carbs, sugar, sodium, etc. It's our soda-replacement and it's amazing! I'm personally a fan of the coconut flavor, but I can attest that pure, lime, and orange are good options too. Unfortunately they don't have black cherry, but there are some other fruity flavors like Berry, Grapefruit, Pear, etc. I highly recommend it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever tried LaCroix, but I will now. I like a lot of fruity flavors, so I am sure that I will be able to find something that I like.
DeleteAhh, I always TRY not to buy candles at B&BW or at Yankee and I always fail so miserably! I love candles! Also that Chex Mix looks wonderful! Could you send me a recipe!?
ReplyDeleteI just shouldn't even enter BBW at all. Maybe I could ask them to ban me somehow!? ;) The recipe for the Chex Mix can be found here: http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/valentine-chex-mix-12-recipe/f6d4a741-f15c-4c78-8f40-94ab312a2e46. Enjoy!!
Deleteah bingo sounds so fun! also that snack mix you made looks so delish!
ReplyDelete-- jackie - jade and oak
It really was! The only bad part is that at every other Bingo place, a postage stamp (4 in any corner) counts as a Bingo. I totally had a line and a postage stamp to win $125, but the place I went to this time doesn't count the postage stamp as a Bingo. I felt so gypped.
DeleteThat Black Cherry flavored water from Kroger is addicting. I started drinking it after kicking soft drinks for good, and it's my favorite flavor.
ReplyDeleteIt is addicting! I just finished another bottle yesterday and I already want more.
