Weekly Wrap Up #6

March 10, 2014
Last week was actually a great week for me because I got to meet up with four of my friends, and I can hardly ever do that because of scheduling issues.  One of my best friends, whom I hadn't seen since October when we went to the Circleville Pumpkin Festival, recently had a baby girl a few weeks ago.  I knew she was probably busy recovering and getting used to her new life as a mom, so I gave her some time before I asked if she was up for visitors.  Her husband went back to work on Wednesday, and she invited me to come on down to Columbus.  It was great getting to "meet" her daughter and she told me all about her birthing story and about what her daughter is like.  She is one of those gals that I know I will always be friends with--we might not see each other that often, but we can always pick right up where we left off.

On Saturday after work, two of my friends and I were going to meet up to go to a locally owned Italian restaurant, but since it started sleeting, my friend got delayed and didn't make it to the area until 7:30.  Since the Italian restaurant we had chosen closes at 8, we decided that it probably wouldn't be wise to go there and just went to Olive Garden instead.  I love their Italian sodas!!  Afterwards, we hung out at my friend's place and watched Old Boy (directed by Spike Lee), not the original Korean one.  The re-make was almost as messed up as the first one and the major plot twist was still the same, but there were some changes, so it kept us all interested in the film.  In the American version, the motive for why the crime was committed made much more sense, but the Korean version was still better, in my opinion.  Sorry to be vague, but one of my pet peeves is when people spoil stuff.  It happens a lot to me since I work at the movies--customers will sometimes talk to me about movies like I've seen them all and give away stuff, and I don't want to be like that!

Yesterday, I met up with my friend Courtney @ Permeating Purpose and we saw the movie Non-Stop with Liam Neeson.  I didn't really know what the movie was about, but just heard that it was "so good" from several people, so we decided to take a chance on it since there's not very many other movies out right now that we wanted to see.  I didn't know that the whole movie took place on a plane--if so, I would have never watched it because one of my biggest (mostly irrational) fears in life is flying!  I always get laughed at when I tell people this because they tell me, "Seriously!?  You've flown more in your life than anyone else that I know!" It just doesn't really get better for me...it's not about not being in control...It's more related to the fact that I'm afraid of heights and that falling feeling during bad turbulence is the worst.  I was actually glad that I saw the movie though--it hooks you in from the start.  I was glued to my seat because I didn't want to miss of the mystery unraveling or action-packed scenes.
Afterwards, Courtney and I went to Menchies and got some pistachio fro yo, that I'm already craving more of.  We spent hours talking and laughing and just catching up with each other.  Courtney is just one of those people that lifts you up with her positivity--I had a ton of fun!

I swear I a wearing another shirt under my blazer, even though it doesn't look like it--haha!

In other news, I bought a scratch-off lottery ticket and got carded!!  That made me laugh and made my week since I'm now 32!

I want to see that movie with Liam...I don't like flying either and now with that flight that tragically went missing I am even more scared but the movie looked interesting!

Olive Garden is hands down my favorite chain restaurant!

I feel like pistachio fro-yo would taste weird. Is it salty? Like, how does it taste exactly? I'm super curious.

Not sure if you saw "Flight", but if you haven't you really ought to avoid it, haha. Definitely not for people who are scared of flying. :P

Hahahahaha you got carded?! No way! :) That is too funny! I remember one time Russ and I went to a cigar bar, I ordered wine and he order water. And HE got carded! He was wearing a 3 piece suit! I could not stop laughing haha :) I am glad you had a great week!

Oh, I love it! It's kind of pricey (I think), but I just love frozen yogurt!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

I did! You should try it!! It is one of my favorite flavors of fro yo and gelato.

Haha, thanks! I wasn't sure I looked too cute because I worked all day and then met up with my friends. I feel like I never look good after work. Our blate is going to be fantastic! :D

YES! I know just what you mean, and I have to fly at the beginning of April. At least it is only a couple of short, domestic flights.

I LOVE their soup, salad, and bread stick lunch combo. I also didn't know until recently that you could pay a quarter or fifty cents to sample their wines!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

It didn't taste salty at all to me. Oh gosh, I don't know how to describe it... It tastes like a pistachio, but sweeter. You'll just have to try some. :)

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

No, I haven't and I will not be watching it. Guess what movie they played on my friend's flight?? Alive! Wtf!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

That is pretty funny! Why would they card him for ordering water??! Hahaha...did they think that you were old enough and were going to sneak him sips?
