Humpday Confessions

April 23, 2014
* I realized that I'm insanely afraid of mice.  The little things gross me out, and I just think of all the germs they have.  I really don't like how they dart across rooms or can squeeze under doors, either.  My friends and I were out at Menchie's and there was a mouse running back and forth in the parking lot, which was freaking me out just watching it.  Of course, my friend thought this was funny and said, "You're scared of a little mouse?"  Then he went outside and tried to catch the mouse, acted like it was in his hands, came back into Menchie's and pretended to throw it on me.  I knew that he probably didn't catch it, but that didn't stop me from screaming at the top of my lungs while he threw air at me.

* Every week I look forward to admiring my growing collection of Essie polish and deciding which color my nails should be for the week.

* The only Easter candy I had was a couple of Reese's eggs, and I'm not even sorry about those. :)

* I don't "get" health insurance. Every time I think that I'm scheduling an appointment and it will just be a $15 co-pay, I get a huge bill in the mail!!  I mean, right on my card it says, "Three office visits-$15, then deductible and 10% co-insurance."  Unfortunately, I finally had my Aetna health insurance figured out, but because of the healthcare reform, my insurance got canceled and I had to sign up with another company.  I called my new insurance company and they told me that in order for it to be $15 it has to be with my primary care giver...which I guess I don't have one now because my former doctor took Aetna, but he does not take my new insurance.  On the bright side, the insurance company did file a claim as an out of network one when it should have been in network, so that will really lower my bill.  I just feel a general shadiness when dealing with health insurance companies, though... I'm really glad I called and questioned the charge instead of just paying it.

* I'm mad at my boss for getting me sick with bronchitis!  I realize that it's not his fault, but I'm still annoyed with him for making me and another co-worker feel awful, which makes me sound childish.  I'll get over it when I start to feel better.

* I'm VERY excited for summer to arrive.  My friend and I have already started to make some fun plans.

* Whenever I ask other teachers about the class that I'll be subbing long term, I get answers I don't like.  One teacher laughed at me and said, "Good luck with them."  Then, another teacher who has them a couple of times a week for music said that there were a lot of behavior problems.  I'm hoping it won't be as bad as they are making it out to be... Oh well, it's only for 3 weeks.

* I'm thinking about changing my blog name...eventually.  I like this one, but I feel like I'm outgrowing it.

Aww mice are so cute though!

Always, always, ALWAYS question charges on your health insurance! They are in the business of NOT covering claims (because that's how they make their money). Health insurance is great when it works, but it is SO complicated. I have a lot of experience with it because I see so many doctors, but I've also had a lot of problems. I hope that you get your bill worked out soon!

Any kind of rodent scares the crap out of me!

I'd be nervous to change my blog name- so much work!

I am SO thankful I don't have to deal with health insurance, at least not to the extent I would outside of Canada. I think mice are kind of cute? I blame it on all the pet hamsters I had growing up!

I don't understand healthcare at all and I am even more confused with the Icelandic healthcare system!

Ooooo what blog name are you thinking of??

I get the insurance thing. Right now I just have catastrophy insurance because if I break a leg or something that would obviously be really expensive, but my regular medical expenses are nonexistent. Hooray for being relatively healthy! But anyway, it's really easy to change your blog name on blogger if you get a .com or whatever. I think choosing the name is the hardest part...

My boss gave me the flu this year because he came into work with the flu. I was pretty mad.

Omg, there's no way I would be uncovering that alone! I really hope that the mouse you saw does not have a ton of brothers and sisters living under that tarp.

Thanks, I'm FINALLY starting to feel a bit better, though I still feel kind of weak. My boss also got two of his other managers sick, so he's hearing it from them, too, hahaha. Oh my gosh, I haven't been to an outdoor concert in SO LONG. What a good way to spend a summer day!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

Haha, I knew someone would say that. I wish I felt the same way. They are not so bad if they are in a cage and I know they won't crawl on me or my things!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

Thanks! I hope it isn't a big bill--they told me that it will take up to 30 days to process. There is just so much fine print and everything sounds so confusing!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

Yes...I want them to stay far, far away from me. The reason why I might want to change mine is because it's hard to remember! Even my own sis can't say the name of my blog and she asked me like 10 times!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

You're lucky! I hardly ever even go to the doctors because I never know about the cost! I once had to pay $500 for an urgent care visit because they told me they were in my network when they weren't. I'll never make that mistake again!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

I love pretty much anything Reese's!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

I'm finally starting to catch on and figure out my new plan...the problem is that if I get a teaching job in the fall (and I hope that I do!!) my insurance will change again. It's always hard to understand a different county's healthcare system--good luck with that!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

Thanks, girl! I'm probably going to keep this name for awhile longer. I'm not 100% committed to the idea of changing the name, but it has been an idea that I've been tossing around!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

I'll tell you some of my ideas when we blate! I could use your input! :)

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

The reason why I didn't understand the insurance for awhile is because I was also pretty healthy and never really went to the doctors. Also, in college, I got healthcare through my parents, so they dealt with that. While I was overseas, I didn't have American health insurance, and there was a time period while I was a student that I didn't have any insurance at all because student health insurance wasn't offered to me while I was a "continuing education" student, so my experiences were pretty limited. I talked to a representative and got a better idea of what my plan entails, but even they seemed confused by the fine print. I don't blame you for just getting the catastrophe insurance, because it's pointless to pay more for a better plan if you can get by without using it.

Picking up bugs from work is never fun.

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

I thought my immune system was tough because of working with little kids for so long, but I guess not!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

I hope it won't be, especially because I saw I will be taking them on a field trip!

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

That sounds amazing! I hope to be able to do the same.

Lisa @ Ameliorer la Vie said...

That sounds like a drag! I'm finally on the mend, but it has been a rough week.

I feel like changing my blog name too but I'm too lazy. I started it as fashiony but now barely do any fashion posts. Oh well!
