Weekly Wrap Up

May 5, 2014
Hi guys!  Welcome to another edition of Weekly Wrap Up.

This week, I subbed two different kindergarten classes as well as a first grade class.  The kindergarten class I usually sub for told me that they were jealous that I was subbing other classes and that I should only sub for them, ha!  Then a student kept writing down her address for me so that I could visit her over the weekend at her house, which was kind of cute.  When I subbed the kindergarten classes, both of them were doing an Eric Carle themed unit, which I thought was a really good idea for a unit.  I really want to do a unit like that, though I would put it at the beginning of the year and not the end.  The lessons would be so easy to write because he has so many age appropriate books out.  Usually when I sub, I just have to follow a scripted language arts program, which is pretty boring.  This time, the teachers left me an activity where I read Pancakes, Pancakes by Eric Carle and Hey, Pancakes by Tamson Weston.  Then, the students got to compare and contrast the two books.  The kids seemed a lot more engaged with this then they usually are with the scripted curriculum, and it was way more fun to teach!  Both classes told me that they were also having a pancake party later in the week to go along with the unit, and all the students were so pumped about that.  I love it when kids get excited about school!

This will be my last week of subbing different classes, and next week I will start my long term subbing in a first grade class and will sub them through the end of the year.  The other four days that I didn't sub were spent working that the movies.  Everything ran smoothly besides a couple of incidents with customers...When I quit there, I should write a tell-all about some of the stupid stuff I deal with!!  Working there has made me see how crazy some people really are.

After subbing one day, I got to meet up with Rachael!  I know I'm spoiled to live so close to her to where we can meet up every so often.  The sad thing is that once she graduates from Ashland, she will move back home, which isn't nearly as close, so we won't be able to meet as frequently.  Hopefully we can meet up again before she has to leave.  We already discussed possibly meeting up at Hilton Head this summer, though!  The two of us had a nice dinner at Texas Roadhouse, and then did some shopping at Target and TJ Maxx.  As always, Rachael was great company!  When I'm with other bloggers, I just can't stop talking about blogging because there is no one that I see on a regular basis that blogs!!

Also, this week I found out that Starbucks finally got back their Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccinos!  They are my absolute faves and I cannot resist that chocolate whipped cream.  Every time I would try to order one they would just tell me that it was a seasonal item, though the workers never seemed to know which season it would be back for.  I'm going to be taking advantage of Happy Hour this week at Starbucks since Frappuccinos are 1/2 off from 3pm to 5pm.

How did your week go?
