Regular Ole Confessions

July 23, 2014
It has been awhile since I wrote out a regular confessions post as opposed to a themed one, so here I am today to just share some random confessions.

* There have been many days this summer when I just didn't bother putting on any makeup, which is so unusual for me.  I usually wear makeup six or seven days of the week, but this summer I've only been wearing it about 3-4 days.  It's kind of freeing!

* I was a little worried about living with two guys, but I have to say that overall, I'm quite happy with my set up.  They kill the bugs, help me with my car a little bit, and are pretty entertaining.

* I confess that a few weeks ago I accidentally flashed my roommate because my bathing suit already didn't fit me right and then a wave came and knocked my swimsuit to the side. Amazingly, I just got a new bathing suit that I'm in love with from Mod Cloth.  Those are words that I have never uttered before about a swim suit. This is the first time in my whole life that a bathing suit actually fits me properly and is even kind of flattering.

Even though I just gushed about the bathing suit, I paid $90 bucks for it and now it's on sale for $62.99, but I already wore it once.  It seems something always goes on sale like right after I buy it!

* This summer, I feel like I've been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster.  The high would be the obvious fact that I like it here in Georgia and am happier here, but the low is that I do feel pretty upset for not having a job yet.  Everett told me yesterday that he felt bad for me and that he knows exactly what I'm going through because it was like this for him last summer when he moved down.  He said he felt so frustrated and like a huge loser because he moved down here in mid-May and didn't get a job until early August.  It relieved me to hear that because I didn't know it took him that long to find a job, so it helped me feel less inadequate.  #truth  Once I find a job, I'll feel more "rooted" to the area, which is what I want.

* Besides my new bathing suit and a couple of pairs of shorts I just ordered, I'm trying to be suuuuppper cheap right now because of the whole not having a job thing.  It's just hard because I finally have free time and want to be out exploring, but I also have to live on a small budget because I'm trying not to burn through all of my savings.  I try to do free stuff and only go out to eat on the weekends.

* I confess that I'm a little peeved because I sent a couple of people some money for their wedding and never got a thank you card back.  It has been months and months now, so I know I won't get one.  Is it petty of me to expect a card?

* I'm supposed to do a Google hangout tonight and I'm nervous!  I've never done a Google hangout, Facetime, or even ever Skyped.  I really do resist technology.

* My friends are going back to Ohio in a few days and asked me if I would like to go, but I don't really know that I want to which sounds bad because I still have friends and family there.

* People keep using all of these acronyms/abbreviations in their posts and I'm not really sure what they mean!  I had to Google PTL the other day.

  2. I don't think it's petty at all to expect a thank you card. I thought it was pretty much custom to send them to people after the wedding?

    1. Thank you!! Lol, I think I was toning down my anger in the post, but it's like...I had to sub for a whole day to give them that money! Hahaha

  3. I love acronyms, but I don't know what PTL means either *runs off to Google* :) Yes, cards are expected. I love Skyping and the first Google handout I did was with other bloggers and it was cool!

    1. Praise the Lord, though Google also told me Post Thesis Life. I'm pretty sure she meant the first one. I hope I like doing the Google hangout...Oh wait, you'll be there tonight, won't you?

    1. They are pretty great. I figured we would be compatible as roomies since I'm best friends with one of them and the other guy is nice, but now I know for sure.

  5. that modcloth swimsuit is too cute! oh that is SO rude to not send a thank you card. we actually got gifts stolen at our wedding, womp womp, but i still sent thank you cards to everyone that came, and hoped that if i didnt have something from them it was because it was stolen and not because they didnt get us anything.

    1. I really want another one especially since they're 30% off...ahhh!! So hard to resist buying another!

My best friend wrote a thank you card to a couple who brought their kids as guests when they were not invited to the wedding and then this same couple got her some crushed coasters (not on her registry), so I don't think it's too hard to write one, right??! If she could muster up some words of thanks after that, then writing a card or even sending a text acknowledging that I gave you $ surely shouldn't be too hard.

That's SO terrible that someone actually stole your gifts! Do you think it was one of your own guests or was it possible for someone else to have done it? (Or do you just have no idea?)

  6. How long has it been since the wedding? It's been 3 months since mine and while my thank you cards are ready to be mailed, I still waiting for labels to stick on them before I send them out :(. Bad bride! The swimsuit is gorgeous!

    1. Well, for a couple of people it was years ago. The one that I'm thinking of now had her wedding in early April, but I sent the money in March because I couldn't attend, lol.
I can't stress enough how happy I am with the swimsuit!! :D

  7. I am right there with you on the looking for a job front. I moved here at the beginning of June, had several interviews, and still no job. I feel like a loser when anyone from back home asks about a job. Don't worry it will happen.

    1. I haven't even had an interview! I have no idea why...my resume is as good as it can be for someone who hasn't had their own classroom in the U.S., and I have good references. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

  8. I definitely wear a lot less make up in summer also I like that if I want to go swimming or anything there will be less make up to worry about running lol btw, love that bathing suit!

    1. Hahaha...I sweat a lot of mine off if I go out during the day here because it's almost always in the 90's.

  9. That is completely rude for them not to send a thank you. You sent them a gift...a thank you is required. I would rather live with guys. I'm super sad that everything fell through for me having my guy roommate even though it wasn't preventable (as far as I know...)

    1. Awww, can you find someone else to take over his portion of the lease so you don't have to live alone? (Unless you want to.)

  10. I usually don't wear makeup in the summer because I am always managing to get wet and I would hate to have mascara running down my face ha ha! That's good that you like your roommate situation! Love the new bathing suit :D I have no idea what most acronyms stand for, I sort of gave up trying to figure them out.

  13. You should call modcloth- sometimes places will credit you the difference!!

    1. Good advice! I did end up trying to get the $$ back, but they said they would only give me the difference if it was within 5 days of when I placed the order. They don't go by the day you received it, which kind of sucks because I got it and then it went on sale just a few days later. Lol...I kind of wish I hadn't worn it out so I could just return and re-order for the cheaper price!

  14. That bathing suit is awesome :)

  15. It's a bummer about the no thank you card thing - but I'll say we usually don't receive them either! totally not how i was raised, but some people are just different i guess! hope you guys had a fun hang out tonight... i won't lie, totally jealous! ;)

    1. Yeah, I personally don't get it and have always written thank you cards in a timely manner, but maybe its just not a priority for some people. The Google hangout was SO FUN...except that I have no idea how to get my mic to work on my laptop and so I had to type the whole time, haha... I had my roommate look at my computer and he doesn't understand why it won't work either.
